OUR PRIVATE NETWORK - Why It Was Down - Why We Always Need Back Ups

GOTTA HAVE A BACK UP, A FIRM UNDERSTANDING & PATIENCE

Well, as many of you know, Our Private Network was down yesterday and disrupted a great deal of my time. It was at the point that ALL OF THE WEBSITES were down for maintenance behind this issue that was still not made known to me. As you can imagine, I had to handle all by email which was extremely frustrating; especially since I am paying for this service and it was not my fault that the network was down. I was not so worried for me, but wondering what some of you would have done if this was your website and the same thing happened to you? I was grateful for past experiences that taught me to always have "backups" in this virtual work arena, so that I am not without income during any emergency. This was not such an experience as Our Private Network is a new website and built for social and not so much for my personal business ...

BUT, WHAT IF THIS WAS NOT THE CASE? WHAT IF THIS NETWORK PROVIDED MY FAMILY INCOME?

I guess that is how it works when you do not have a network set up on your own servers and are dependent upon someone else's team to handle the technical issues. I am very sorry for the inconvenience, though am happy to have the experience, so that I can share the importance of HAVING YOUR OWN & HAVING BACK UPS with the members of this network. I have managed web servers and dynamic sites for so long that I cannot get but so upset with this situation. This can happen to the best of us and that is why you should "never put all of your eggs in one basket" ... you know what I mean?

ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL I SUPPOSE - THANK GOD I HAVE BACK UPS

As you see, I had a similar experience back in 1999. I had begun working online in 1998. After sometime in the business, I needed a way to promote my programs to others, as well as how to use them. I did not know how to build a website, so I did some research and signed up with the HOTTEST new website builder called HotYellow98. I added all of my Pay-To-Surf, Pay-To-Read, Pay-To-Click (was called Pay-Per-Click back then) and affiliate programs. It was awesome because all I needed to do was send someone to my website for all of the information they needed.

Unfortunately, one day, I received an email from a work at home mom. She stated that she was unable to access my website. I panicked as that was what was supporting my family at that time. Alas, she was correct. My website was down and I did not have a backup of my pages. It would not have mattered so much at that time as I did not understand about FTP, hosting or any of that, though I am sure that I would have learned a lot sooner had I had a backup of my site.
Regardless, my website went down because that company went bankrupt. I WENT BANKRUPT TOO.

Thank God I received an email from a man named Kevin Murie sent me an email about Paypal.com / Xcom and Ebay. I was so grateful to have the ability to market those two programs in the absence of my website because I have never been patient enough to sit and click each day. I was better at promoting the programs. Paypal's affiliate program permitted me to make the money I needed without having to click or surf.

The point is that after the experience of loosing my website (essentially my business), I went back to school to learn more about website design and e-commerce. I continued to promote affiliate programs during that time, though did not build another website until I understood how to make one from code, back up, servers and sales. I have worked like that ever since until NOW. I wanted to get this network up as quickly as possible so that you could have the advantages of networking with leaders and those who are new to working online. BIG mistake that I will correct after the holidays. Regardless, please use my experiences as foresight for your growth and marketing strategies. There is nothing like having control of your own business and having back ups, too. If I did not have my other websites and advertising in place, I would have been in the position that I was in 10 years ago ... IT IS NOT A NICE PLACE TO BE.

On the other hand, I built this network to help others and I did not like the fact that some have no back ups of their own. I understand that we do not all know how or have the time to learn how to build a website right now, therefore I am going to make some suggestions to help you. Some, you have probably seen me post as resources before.
